Thursday, February 20th, the new Municipal Office Groningen, location Harm Buiterplein, was officially opened. Present were several hundred people who had been closely involved in the realization of this project, which till now has already received lots of praise by the press, and most important by its users and people of Groningen.
With the unveiling of the artwork ‘Groninger Universalis’ by the Groningen artists Lambert Kamps and Tjeerd Veenhoven, Alderman Ton Schroor officially opened the new office.
This artwork is composed of 100 portraits of residents of Groningen. They were photographed by the artists. The photographs were then processed into one monumental portrait of the ‘Groninger Universalis’. The artwork has been given a prominent place in the entrance hall.
“This building is a pleasant meeting place for Stadjers and the municipality. Arranged to be able to work flexible and extremely sustainable. It is an asset to the city and, together with its surroundings, a place to be proud of,” according to Alderman Ton Schroor.
