Experience Island ‘t Blauwe Meer is a unique venue covering an area of almost 50 hectares in Loon op Zand, close to Tilburg in North Brabant. There are boundless possibilities for organizing indoor and outdoor activities for friends, family or companies with its two large areas of open water, dense woodlands, white beaches and off-road circuits. We designed the concept for a new pavilion in a unique outdoor setting.

The Pavilion

Originally, several amenities were spread across multiple buildings. We consolidated these in a single building. The site’s two large areas of open water formed the basis for our design. The pavilion appears to hover over both land and lake, creating a contrast with its surroundings. The pavilion serves as a venue for meetings, presentations, dinners and parties. By positioning the pavilion on the waterfront, all function rooms have their own patio. The main entrance is located on the south-facing elevation. A spacious reception area forms the central focus of the building and is surrounded by its function rooms and patios. The main hall has a stage, which is ideal for parties, product launches and concerts, and the restaurant is situated along the waterfront and seats over four hundred guests. Transparent façades and spacious patios provide guests with spectacular views across the lake.

Beach

On the other side of the pavilion is a public beach and during the summer months, facilities on this side of the building are principally aimed at beach visitors.
