Asked to revamp a private jet, we were confronted by the many constraints affecting aircraft: even the colour choice is certified. In the light of this, we could actually change very little. Nevertheless, we were able to tackle the key challenge of the project, which was to give the rather short and thick plane a more elongated, graceful and aerodynamic look. A better ‘livery’ or paint job was our solution for conjuring the illusion of leaner, flowing lines.
The existing bordeaux and white livery of the Dassault Falcon jet did nothing for its looks and instead emphasised its shortcomings – its rather bulky profile. We opted instead for a sleek silver colour, added a dark blue shadow line to create the impression of more length. Although a minor intervention, it completely transforms the appearance of the plane – from squat ugly duckling to streamlined swan.
