Developed in collaboration with Buro van Stigt for the University of Amsterdam, the project brings together restoration, transformation, and new construction to create an open and contemporary academic environment within the historic heart of the city.

The jury recognised the UB as "an inspiring example of how connecting existing buildings with new construction continues to add quality to the city," and highlighted its approach to extending and adapting the existing urban fabric as a model for the future of the built environment.

This recognition is the result of a shared ambition and the dedication of an exceptional team of clients, consultants, engineers, contractors, craftspeople, and collaborators. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to bringing the project to life.

We also extend our congratulations to Wooncoöperatie de Nieuwe Meent, Time to Access, and Office Raumplan on receiving the AAP 2026 Public Award.

Our thanks to Arcam Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam and the AAP jury for this recognition. We are proud to be recognised alongside such an inspiring group of nominated projects.
