Golden Phoenix (Gulden Feniks) 2012

The Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam has been awarded as winner of the Golden Phoenix (Gulden Feniks) 2012 in the category Transformation

Together with architectural office J. van Stigt we transformed this listed building designed by D.E.C. Knuttel into one of Amsterdam’s finest hotels with some 129 rooms of the highest quality imaginable. We subtly mixed old with new, successfully preserving and accentuating the listed building’s charm by paying very careful attention to the detailing and choice of materials used for the construction of the inner atrium. This resulted in a particularly stunning interior that creates a unique public space of international allure for the Netherlands.
