MVSA Architects wins design bid for NCIA
press-release -
We are very proud to announce that MVSA Architects has the commission to design the expansion of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) in The Hague. Based on a Design & Construct contract, consortium Boele & van Eesteren | Visser & Smit Bouw, will develop 11.000 m2 of new office space and renovate 13.500 m2. MVSA is part of the consortium and is responsible for the exterior and interior.
The winning design fits closely to the architectural ambitions of the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf (Central Government Real Estate Agency), which is reflected in the use of the NATO symbol, a star, as a prominent part of the design. The star is used in a reoccurring pattern, which is displayed on the exterior of the building by using the parapet and in the interior around the atriums unifying it as a whole. By adding a transparent glass-construction to the atriums and the lush green inner-gardens we have created a representative space with international allure. The project is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2019.
